Waste to Data: Power, Cooling and AI Capacity

April 1, 2027 11:00 am - 11:30 am

The expansion of AI infrastructure is creating challenges that go well beyond access to electricity. This session explores Waste to Data, an approach developed in Brazil that integrates urban waste recovery, firm power, cooling and data center development within a single infrastructure model. André Bolognesi will introduce the architecture, while a senior representative from Mendes Holler will bring the mission-critical engineering and construction perspective, addressing the reliability, redundancy and operational continuity requirements the infrastructure must meet. Together, they'll explore how this approach could offer new options for addressing time-to-power constraints, alongside the practical engineering and economic challenges involved in making it viable. The session will also offer a Brazilian perspective and invite an open exchange of ideas on the challenges and opportunities facing AI infrastructure development.
